Festival and Competition of Bands, Paris 1867

Held during the Exposition Universelle in Paris 1867, the Festival was a performance of 1400 musicians under the dome of the Palace of Industry. The following day there was a competition for wind and brass bands from all over France. The wind band competition was won jointly by La Musique municipale de Tourcoing, M. Stappen, conductor, and les Canonniers sédentaires de Lille, M. Delannoy, conductor. The bnrass band competition was won by Fanfare Sax, de Paris, conducted by Adolphe Sax. The following scores and recordings were all written for and performed during the festival and competition and are all in the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
